Repo of the Day
nuxt/modules
Published: Mar 28, 2022
Open repository ↗A list of nuxt modules to use for your next nuxt project. I like nuxt and think that maybe I really need to try and dive back into vue stuff including nuxt, but my worry is that I will need more react work under my belt if im going to continue up the pay scale for FE engineering. Either that or I work towards management and try and improve the people management part of that skill set.
Summary
nuxt/modules is a curated catalog and metadata repository maintained by the Nuxt team that powers the public module listing at nuxt.com/modules. Each entry is stored as a YAML file in the ./modules directory and is auto-synced from upstream sources to keep descriptions, npm names, and maintainer information current. The compiled data is published as both an npm package and JSON files on CDNs, so engineers can consume the catalog programmatically.
What it is useful for
This repo is most useful as a single source of truth for discovering Nuxt modules across categories like CMS, database, UI, auth, and other integrations. Engineers building internal tooling, documentation sites, or dependency explorers can use the data instead of scraping nuxt.com. Module authors can also open a PR here to be listed, since the data feeds the public site. It is not a runtime library, there is no code to import for adding functionality to a Vue app, and it does not install or run modules on its own.
How engineers can use it
For consumers, the quickest path is installing the npm package, which the README documents:
npm install @nuxt/modules
Then import the module list directly:
import modules from '@nuxt/modules'
Or, if you would rather avoid a dependency, the README lists two CDN options for the compiled JSON: https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@nuxt/modules@latest/modules.json and https://unpkg.com/@nuxt/modules@latest/modules.json.
For contributors and maintainers, the README documents a sync command for refreshing a single entry's metadata from its source repository:
pnpm sync tailwindcss nuxt-modules/tailwindcss
A repo#branch suffix is supported for syncing from non-default branches. Running pnpm sync with no arguments updates every module, while pnpm build regenerates modules.json. The README's schema table is the authoritative reference for fields like category, type (community, official, or 3rd-party), compatibility, and mcp. The repo is licensed MIT, and the README points to the Nuxt docs site for detailed module authoring guidance, so readers should look there for the full contributor workflow.
