Wildcard Placeholder Service

Wildcard is a placeholder image service at wildcard.codestuff.io that returns random animal photos for web and UI mockups. It is designed for fast prototyping when you need realistic, varied visuals instead of static placeholder blocks.

Why It Exists

Most placeholder services repeat the same handful of images, which makes prototypes feel artificial. Wildcard gives each layout a more natural look by returning random animal content while preserving requested dimensions.

Tech stack: PHP, Guzzle, Intervention, Phroute Vue, Vuex, Tailwind CSS

Highlights

  • Randomized animal imagery to keep mockups visually fresh
  • Simple width and height URL pattern for quick drop-in placeholders
  • Optional filtering by animal type and style flags
  • Built for prototypes, concept decks, and staging environments
