A cool Redis desktop client. I should learn more about redis and how to use it. Seems to be one of the most popular key value stores for caching and job queue management.

Summary

Another Redis Desktop Manager is an open-source, cross-platform GUI client for Redis built on Electron (JavaScript). It targets day-to-day Redis work across standalone servers, clusters, and sentinels, and its README states it is designed to stay responsive when loading very large key sets.

What it is useful for

The tool covers most common Redis interaction tasks in a single desktop app: connecting to multiple Redis instances, browsing keys in a tree view, and editing values with type-aware viewers. Documented supported data types include String, Hash, List, Set, Zset, Stream, RedisJSON, TimeSeries, Vector, and ARRAY, plus specialized viewers for Protobuf, Msgpack, Java serialized objects, and Pickle.

It is also useful for more operational tasks. The README documents: SSL/TLS and SSH tunnel connections, SSH private key support, ACL support (for Redis 6 and above), cluster and sentinel modes, slow log inspection, monitor mode, memory analysis per key or folder, command execution logging, and export/import of keys. Other practical touches include dark mode, a CLI console per tab, command-line arguments for scripted launches, connection groups, and "readonly mode" for safe browsing.

A "Custom Viewer" mechanism lets you run an external script (for example, /bin/node /home/qii/node_decoder.js {HEX} --key={KEY}) to format values the built-in viewers cannot, which is handy for proprietary or binary encodings.

How engineers can use it

The README lists several install paths. On Windows, download the .exe from Releases, or use choco install another-redis-desktop-manager or winget install qishibo.AnotherRedisDesktopManager. On Linux, download the AppImage and chmod +x it, or use sudo snap install another-redis-desktop-manager. On macOS, download the .dmg or run brew install --cask another-redis-desktop-manager.

The README documents a documented workaround for macOS Gatekeeper: if the app won't open after install, run sudo xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Another\ Redis\ Desktop\ Manager.app. For the snap build, SSH key access may require sudo snap connect another-redis-desktop-manager:ssh-keys.

For development, the documented steps are: git clone … --depth=1, npm install, npm start (serves at localhost:9988 with hot reload), then npm run electron in a second terminal. Platform packagers are npm run pack:win, pack:win32, pack:mac, and pack:linux. A Linux build may need sudo apt install libfontconfig1-dev if fontconfig headers are missing.

For quick scripted launches, the README documents flags such as --host 127.0.0.1 --port 6379 --auth 123 --name tmp_connection --cluster --ssh-host … --ssh-username … --ssh-password … --sentinel-master-name mymaster --ssl --readonly --save. Internal-network cluster connections require SSH+Cluster rather than direct IPs; the FAQ explains how to discover internal IPs via CLUSTER NODES.
