Use Claude Code, Codex, Pi, and OpenCode (and 6 other harnesses) for free (1.3B+ free tokens) from your terminal, app, IDE, or phone, and now from the browser with native browser sessions (multi-harness + multi-model) like OpenClaw (voice supported + ToS friendly)

Summary

Free Claude Code (FCC) is a Python-based local proxy and Admin UI that provides one model catalog for coding agents including Claude Code, Codex, Pi, OpenCode, Cline, Hermes, Aider, and VS Code Chat. The README lists 61 provider integrations spanning hosted, subscription, paid, free-tier, and local models, with browser-based Codex sessions and automatic model fallback; it is an independent project and is not affiliated with Anthropic.

What it is useful for

FCC lets engineers keep using familiar coding-agent interfaces while changing the underlying provider or model in the Admin UI. For example, Claude Code can use an OpenRouter model, a Groq model, NVIDIA NIM, or a model served locally by Ollama, LM Studio, or llama.cpp. Custom providers can also be added by supplying an API base URL, optional keys, and an API format.

It is particularly useful when a provider is unavailable or rate-limited. An ordered fallback list can move to another configured model after retries are exhausted without restarting the current agent turn. The trade-off is that a failed request may consume usage from more than one provider.

FCC also connects agents to VS Code, JetBrains, Codex App, Discord, and Telegram, and can accept voice notes through local Whisper or NVIDIA NIM transcription. Its browser UI can run Codex against a selected folder with real-time and background support. However, switching between different harnesses within the same browser session is documented as “coming soon.”

How engineers can use it

On macOS or Linux, the documented installer is:

curl -fsSL "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Alishahryar1/free-claude-code/main/scripts/install.sh" | sh

On Windows PowerShell:

& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Alishahryar1/free-claude-code/main/scripts/install.sh")))

The installer prompts for at least one agent and optional RTK and Headroom support. On Linux, start the local server with fcc-server and leave the terminal open; Windows and macOS provide a desktop launcher. FCC opens its Admin UI, where an engineer can add a provider key, select a model, apply the configuration, and optionally define fallbacks.

Agents are then launched through commands such as:

fcc-claude
fcc-codex
fcc-pi
fcc-opencode

Provider limits and free-tier availability are controlled by each provider and may change. Coding agents also require tool-capable models, and local models need enough context for the agent prompt and tool definitions; the README advises checking those requirements before selecting one.
