Summary
GoLive is an open-source Agent Skill and zero-dependency Node CLI that takes agent-built apps from local code to live production on the developer's own provider accounts. It runs a detect → plan → approve → apply → verify workflow for hosting, databases, domains, email, and test-mode payments, with no GoLive-hosted backend or telemetry. The project is at version 0.1.0-alpha.9, with Vercel, Netlify, Supabase, Neon, Porkbun, GoDaddy, Resend, and Stripe as the live-tested paths.
What it is useful for
GoLive is useful when a coding agent has produced an app and an engineer needs to wire it to real services without manually juggling accounts, dashboards, and credentials. It can provision a Vercel or Netlify project, create a Supabase or Neon database, attach a custom domain through Porkbun or GoDaddy DNS, set up a Resend sending domain, register a Stripe test-mode endpoint, and configure Supabase authentication, all behind explicit plan approval. Lifecycle commands such as golive status perform read-only drift checks, golive teardown removes only resources it can prove it created, and golive handoff produces a markdown ownership document for the project. Beyond the built-in adapters, the skill supports a general guided flow for other providers that uses their official CLIs, MCP servers, or APIs, though that path is best-effort and lacks the same verification coverage as the built-in flows.
How engineers can use it
Installation requires Node.js 20+, npm/npx, Git, and a coding agent (Codex and Claude Code are verified; other clients are unverified). The README documents three install channels:
# Skills CLI (Codex or Claude Code)
npx skills add https://github.com/mikehasa/golive-skill --skill golive --global
# npm package
npx golive@alpha install --agent codex
npx golive@alpha install --agent claude
# ClawHub (OpenClaw)
npx clawhub@latest install golive
After installing, reload skills and invoke the skill in the agent's chat with $golive (Codex) or /golive (Claude Code), or ask in plain language. The agent inspects the app, asks about missing providers, presents destination accounts and the plan, and waits for approval before any provider write. Every run needs an approved plan ID and explicit confirmation; DNS writes need --confirm-dns, deletions need --confirm-destroy, and live-mode steps such as a first production deploy need --confirm-live. A failed check stops the run rather than continuing.
Documented limits to plan around: credentials are stored in a plaintext file at mode 0600 outside the repo, not in a keychain; Cloudflare DNS is experimental and not a validated alpha path; rollback re-points are Netlify-only (Vercel corrections happen in the dashboard); account isolation is implemented and mock-covered but not live-validated; and the npm 0.1.0-alpha.0 snapshot has no updater, so it must be removed and reinstalled. The README points to docs/VALIDATION.md for what has been exercised live versus only mock-covered, and docs/PROVIDERS.md for the current per-provider scope.
