Open repository ↗mission control for agent skills
Summary
LazySkills is an MIT-licensed Go terminal UI for managing "agent skills" — reusable capabilities that coding agents such as Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex, Cursor, and Gemini CLI can pick up. It surfaces which skills are installed across project, global, universal, and agent-specific scopes in one TUI, flags broken installs, and lets engineers preview and run maintenance actions safely. The tool is positioned as "mission control" for skills rather than another agent runtime.
What it is useful for
Working with multiple AI coding agents means juggling skill files scattered across project folders, global directories, and per-agent scopes. LazySkills centralizes that inventory and supports several concrete workflows:
- Audit agent visibility. Cycle the visibility filter (
akey) to see which skills a given agent (Claude Code, OpenCode, Cursor, etc.) can actually use. - Triage broken installs without manual debugging. The README documents checks for missing
SKILL.md, invalid frontmatter, broken symlinks, missing lock entries, and ghost agent skills.lazyskills doctorranks scan errors before warnings and prints the affected skill, path, and safe next step; it is read-only and never modifies skills or lock files. - Recover deleted skills.
lazyskills restore --globalor--projectreinstalls entries recorded in the lock file but missing from disk. - Discover and install skills from skills.sh. Search from the TUI with
n, or script it vialazyskills find --json "browser automation"for use by other agents. - Bulk maintenance. Select skills with
space, then reinstall (u), remove (x), or run bulk actions with confirmation prompts.
How engineers can use it
Install via the documented installer for macOS and Linux:
curl -fsSL https://lazyskills.sh/install | sh
Homebrew (brew install --cask alvinunreal/tap/lazyskills), Windows (irm https://lazyskills.sh/install.ps1 | iex), and go install github.com/alvinunreal/lazyskills/cmd/lazyskills@latest are also documented options.
From a project directory, run lazyskills to launch the TUI. The left pane groups skills by source. Common keys: / to search, enter for details, c for available actions, space to select for bulk actions, u to reinstall/update, x to remove, and ? for the full keymap. LazySkills previews each command and requires confirmation for destructive actions.
For non-interactive use, the README documents lazyskills doctor [--json] [--cwd <path>], lazyskills restore [--global|--project|--all] [--yes], and lazyskills update [--check] [--print-command]. A documented limitation: restore narrows but does not eliminate races with concurrent installs, so it can abort mid-run and report which skills were already restored rather than making the operation fully atomic.
