AI agent skill that researches any topic across Reddit, X, YouTube, HN, Polymarket, and the web - then synthesizes a grounded summary

Summary

last30days is a Python-based AI agent skill that fans a single query out to many platforms (Reddit, X, YouTube, TikTok, Hacker News, Polymarket, GitHub, arXiv, Techmeme, and more) in parallel, scores results by engagement signals like upvotes and prediction-market odds, and asks the agent to synthesize a grounded brief. It runs as a plugin on Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenClaw, Grok, Claude Desktop (via .mcpb), and roughly 50 other Agent Skills hosts. Because each platform is a walled garden, the user supplies API keys or browser sessions for the locked-down sources.

What it is useful for

  • Pre-meeting research: /last30days <person> pulls recent X posts, YouTube transcripts, GitHub PR velocity, and Reddit threads, so the brief reflects what they did this month instead of an outdated LinkedIn.
  • Topic discovery: asking "what's exploding in AI agents?" enters discovery mode and returns velocity-ranked topics with cross-source momentum labels and ready-to-run follow-up commands.
  • Tool comparisons: /last30days OpenClaw vs Hermes vs Paperclip produces a side-by-side table with live GitHub star counts, architecture, and best-for in a single pass.
  • Hiring signals: --hiring-signals reads jobs and careers pages as cited evidence for where a company is investing.
  • Tracking public events: README examples include ride closures at Universal Epic Universe and Polymarket odds during the Iran/USA conflict, both assembled from multiple sources at once.

How engineers can use it

For Claude Code, the documented install is:

/plugin marketplace add mvanhorn/last30days-skill
/plugin install last30days

For Codex, Cursor, Copilot, Gemini CLI, and 50+ other Agent Skills hosts:

npx skills add mvanhorn/last30days-skill -g

Reddit, Hacker News, Polymarket, and GitHub work without any keys; arXiv, Techmeme, and Digg auto-install free CLIs on first run. X, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn require the user to bring their own API keys or browser cookies. A --preflight flag (run via scripts/last30days.py --preflight) shows what a run would read and write without starting research, which is useful for review before kicking off a job.

Documented limitations: Claude Desktop requires Python 3.12+ on PATH and Windows support is deferred; if both the marketplace plugin and the npx skills copy are installed on Claude Code, /last30days will show two entries; and credentials configured for Claude Code do not sync to Claude Desktop. Full behavior and source-specific options live in skills/last30days/SKILL.md and CONFIGURATION.md, which the README designates as the source of truth.
