Open repository ↗A comprehensive logo-design skill for Claude: principles, process, SVG craft, testing tools and a 1,400+ logo reference library
Summary
logo-design-skill is an open-format Agent Skill (a SKILL.md plus tools) that turns coding agents like Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Codex CLI, Cursor and GitHub Copilot into identity designers. It bundles a structured logo-design process, a 1,400+ SVG reference library, and dependency-free Python utilities for auditing, testing, rendering and exporting marks. The project is licensed MIT and follows the same skills-folder convention used across these agents.
What it is useful for
Engineers building or rebranding a product can hand the agent a brief and get a research-backed concept set back, rather than raw prompts. The reference library is browsable from the command line and visually classified by mark type, technique, geometry, subject, typography, mood and industry, so the agent can study category conventions and avoid obvious look-alikes. The included Python tools audit an SVG against logo principles, build test sheets (16 px pixel test, one-colour, reversed, squint, mirror, contexts and a competitor shelf test), render PNGs, assemble client presentation boards with industry mockups, and export a full favicon, app-icon and web-manifest set. The 28 example brands in the README span SaaS, fintech, health and other categories with explicit "do not use" tropes (no chat bubbles, bank blue, green crosses), which is useful when you need to differentiate in a crowded space. The workflow deliberately stops at a checkpoint so the agent does not produce a full kit before a direction is chosen.
How engineers can use it
For Claude Code, the README documents a plugin-marketplace install (/plugin marketplace add kaankiziltug/logo-design-skill then /plugin install logo-design@logo-design-skill) plus a manual git clone and cp -r into ~/.claude/skills/logo-design or a project-local .claude/skills/logo-design. For Claude.ai or Claude Desktop you upload logo-design.zip from the Releases page (or generate it with python3 tools/package_skill.py); a logo-design-lite.zip is offered if you hit a size cap. For Gemini CLI and Codex CLI, the same cp -r logo-design-skill/skills/logo-design ~/.gemini/skills/logo-design (or ~/.codex/skills/logo-design) is documented. After installing, start a new session and ask the agent for a logo; the skill triggers automatically from its description.
Documented limitations: the workflow relies on a model that can view images, since drafts are rendered to PNG and self-checked; the .claude-plugin/ folder is only used by Claude Code and is ignored elsewhere.
